Hot Spot FAQ's

Joliet Public Library hotspots are available to Joliet Public LIbrary cardholders in good standing.

Our hotspots are first come, first served, and are unable to be placed on hold. Hotspots are limited to one per cardholder. In order to obtain a hotspot, please check our public library catalog to ensure that a hotspot is available at the branch you wish to visit.

Upon visiting the Circulation desk at your chosen Joliet Public Library branch, you will be asked to present a picture ID, as well as a valid Joliet Public Library card in good standing.  Youth under the age of 18 who wish to check out a hotspot will need to be accompanied by the parent or guardian who signed the minor up for a library account.

Adults will be asked to sign a hotspot waiver, agreeing to the following guidelines. Parents and guardians of youth under the age of 18 will sign a Parental Internet Access Consent form, as well as a hotspot waiver, on behalf of his or her child.

A standard checkout period for hotspots is one week, and a $10 deposit (cash or check only) is required at checkout. Hotspots can circulate for two weeks if requested at the time of checkout, and will require a $20 deposit in total. The deposit will be returned in full when the hotspot is returned by its due date.

Please note: there are no grace periods for hotspots, and hotspot overdue charges are $5/day.

Hotspots must be returned in person at the Circulation Desk at either branch of the Joliet Public Library, or to the pick up window at the Black Road Branch.

Hotspots must be returned in the condition which they were received, with all parts included (hotspot, carrying case, USB cable, USB cable adaptor and instruction card.)
