The Joliet Public Library offers the researcher of genealogy and local history a variety of materials.The collection includes:

  • Joliet newspapers on microfilm from 1846 to present
  • Federal Census population schedules for Will County on microfilm; 1840-1880; 1900-1920
  • Will County directories in print; 1859-60 and 1872-73. The 1872-73 index is also on microfilm.
  • Joliet city directories from 1875 to present, in print and/or on microfilm
  • Printed obituary indexes; 1915-18, and 1976-2012
  • Books about Joliet and/or Will County history
  • Will County atlases, and plat books
  • Joliet high school yearbooks
