Whether you’re an anime fan, a comic book lover, or a passionate gamer, the Joliet Public Library has many resources for you to “nerd out” and express yourself.

From checking out your favorite manga, to making custom items in the Digital Media Studio (DMS), to attending Joliet Public Library’s own “mini-con,” there are many ways to express your love for your favorite pieces of media and your love for fandom here at the library!

1. Look through our manga collection

Are you watching an anime and curious about its manga counterpart? Check to see if we have it at the library! Joliet Public Library has thousands of manga titles for both youth and adults to browse at any branch. Some popular titles the Library has include Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Tokyo Ghoul, Sailor Moon, and One Piece!

2. DIY merch at the DMS

Want new merchandise, but can’t find any for your favorite fandom in stores? Create your very own merch at the Digital Media Studio! The DMS offers T-shirt printing and button making services at a small cost, as well as instructions on how to use each machine.

3. Read comics digitally on Hoopla

If you’re a fan of comics, don’t miss out on our large collection on Hoopla! Hoopla is a free digital media streaming service that you can access with your Joliet Public Library card. It even allows you to view each panel individually, making sure you don’t miss a single detail. Whether you’re looking for a fluffy graphic novel or an action packed comic, Hoopla has it for you!

4. Check out a video game

Want to play an old favorite or try something new? Feel free to explore our collection of video games for a variety of consoles, located right by the Chicago Street entrance to the library!

5. Visit us at FAME!

Did you know the Joliet Public Library hosts its own fandom mini-convention? Come to the Fandom, Arts, and Music Expo on Sept. 12, 2026. Presented by the Digital Media Studio, this event features local fandom artists, cosplayers, live music, panels and more! Dust off your cosplay, be ready to check out the awesome art, and connect with like-minded fandom enthusiasts.
