Welcome back! The Joliet Public Library is excited to announce that our buildings are open to the public for limited services beginning June 29. 

Building Hours: Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday/Saturday: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Digital Media Studio Hours: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Pickup Services will also continue to be available during this time.

These hours will be in effect until further notice. 

Pickup Service Hours: Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday/Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Book and Bean Cafe: Temporarily closed until August 29 (tentative)

 New Requirements: 

  • Choose and Cruise! 
  • Public computer time will be limited to 30 minutes. Extensions up to 30 minutes may be possible based on availability. 
  • Masks or facial coverings will be required to enter the buildings. 
  • Please practice social distancing measures and follow the signage in the buildings to direct you.
  • Wash and/or sanitize your hands often.
  • If you are sick or symptomatic, we ask that you please stay home and visit the library when you are feeling better. 
  • Continue to return your items to our outdoor or foyer book drops. Please do not hand materials to staff. Materials will be quarantined for three days. 

Library Services: 

  • We will offer browsing, basic reference, service point assistance and limited computer access.
  • Specific areas and tablets will be designated for Census registration 
  • The Digital Media Studio will be open Mon.-Fri. from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. However, audio appointments are not available at this time.
  • The Local History Section and computer area is open for research.
  • Chairs have been removed and computers have been spaced out to help us with social distancing.
  • Headphones and phone chargers will be unavailable for loan until further notice. 

Programming and Meeting Rooms:

  • Virtual Programming is available at jolietlibrary.org all summer long.
  • Meeting Rooms at both Branches and Study Rooms at the Black Road Branch are unavailable at this time.

Pickup Services for holds and craft kits are available for your convenience.

Are you accepting book donations?
We are not accepting book donations at this time. 

How do I return my materials?
Please return materials to the book drops only. We ask that you do not hand materials directly to staff.

I returned my materials, but I still see them reflected in my account.
Returned materials will not be reflected on your account immediately.
We quarantine materials upon return for three days. 

Will I be fined if my items are late?
New fines will be suspended during this time, excluding Interlibrary loans and Hotspots.

When do I need to pick up my items I placed on hold? 
In an effort to get items to you faster, items will be held for pick up for 5 days.
