Borrow-A-Book Club

What is Borrow-A-Book Club?

Borrow-A-Book Club is a service where local book clubs borrow books from us. We can also help you organize your book discussion by providing discussion questions, reviews from authoritative sources, author biographical information, list of read-a-like titles, and tips for leading a book club.

Who is eligible for this service?

All Joliet Public Library cardholders and reciprocal borrowers within the Pinnacle Library Cooperative are eligible as long as they are in good standing.

What type of library materials can be requested?

Book club members can request up to 20 copies of each title in varying formats – regular type books, large type books, and books on CD. We are not able to obtain e-books or books published within the current year.

Who is responsible for checking out the books?

Book club members may check out books individually, or one designated person may check out all books on his/ her library card. This person is responsible for all fines/ charges if any materials are overdue, lost, or damaged. Please note that replacement costs for interlibrary loan items are determined by the owning library.

How can I request the Borrow-A-Book Club Service?

To request multiple copies of a book and/or discussion kit, fill out the Borrow-A-Book Club form here, or at the Adult Services Desk at either of our two library locations. Your request should be submitted 4-5 weeks prior to your book discussion. You will be notified when the books and discussion kits are ready to be picked up at the Circulation Desk. For questions contact, Christine Maleno or call 815-846-6514.
