Local Author Collection
We have a locally authored print collection at each branch, kick-started by the generous contributions of many writers in the WriteOn! Group.
Interested in contributing your book to our local author collection? Please note:
- Local authors are defined as residing in, or hailing from, Joliet and its immediate adjoining communities of Joliet Township, Rockdale, Preston Heights, Crystal Lawns, Ingalls Park, New Lenox, Shorewood-Troy, Plainfield, Channahon-Minooka, Fairmont or Crest Hill.
- Up to two copies of a single title can be dropped off at the Ottawa Street or Black Road branches at the Circulation Desk, marked to the attention of the adult or youth services manager.
- Locally authored materials will be held to the same standards for all acquired materials, as governed by our Collection Development Policy. Items not added to the collection will be donated to the Friends of Joliet Public Library for resale.
Writer's Group
Joliet Public Library is thrilled to partner with WriteOn Joliet!, a welcoming, diverse group of writers of varied skills, interests and experience. The group includes professional journalists, fiction novelists, bloggers, screenwriters, musicians and poets. WriteOn! promises a safe, comfortable and supportive atmosphere to share your work, and constructive feedback so that everyone can benefit from the group’s shared knowledge. WriteOn! is an independent writer’s group that is sponsored by the library. As such, it is a dues-paying organization, after your first visit. Interested in learning more? Please come by and check it out! For more information, visit writeonjoliet.com.
Write On meets at BRB at 6:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays in Meeting Room D.
